Learn how a modern, configurable EMR is delivering early and significant benefits to George Eliot Hospital, NHS Trust.

People with diabetes often receive care from several departments, physicians or specialists. Ideally, information from all visits is kept in one place to support long-term healthcare needs, but this doesn’t always happen. A pilot program at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust in the UK set out to achieve this using ’s Lorenzo EMR.

During the webinar, Dr Vinod Patel explains how the team in the Outpatient Diabetes Department used the new EMR to improve the care they provide to diabetic patients, and achieved early and significant results. Dr Patel was the clinical lead for this project and Honorary Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes, Acute Medicine and Medical Obstetrics at the hospital.

Soon after implementing the new EMR, the Trust called for proposals for clinical redesign projects. The Outpatient Diabetes Department proposed a project to standardise and streamline the way that clinical data about diabetic patients was collected, accessed and used across departments for team based care.

By watching the webinar session, you will learn:

  • How the project team engaged stakeholders including doctors, nurses, administrative staff and GPs
  • How meaningful use of the newly implemented EMR was achieved in 5 months – resulting in improved care, efficiency gains and a better patient experience
  • How the department now provides updated care plans to patients and GPs on the day of the clinic appointment
  • How the department measures activity and performance to know what is working and what needs improvement
  • Future plans for further enhancements to the pathway and how other departments are following the lead.
