“Technologies such as SMAC are not next gen. They are now architectural prerequisites. An architect delivers business value by integrating and transforming current systems while strategically introducing emerging technologies. An architect must be on the cusp of the technology revolution.” -- Jim Naumovski
Jim Naumovski is a director of sales solutions and delivery architecture in DXC Technology’s Australia and New Zealand region, where he frequently finds himself pushing the boundaries of conventional architectural and solutioning philosophies.
Jim began his career in academia, lecturing and tutoring while conducting research on robotics and artificial intelligence. He then joined a multinational mining, metals and petroleum company, where he developed skills in core business systems, manufacturing execution systems, distributed computing and business and IT transformation on a global scale. While there, he saw his business unit expand to external clients, including the Australian Tax Office and Department of Defense.
In 2001, he brought this experience to a new company, where he became the chief architect for the insurance and banking industries in Australia. Soon afterwards, he was asked to build up the regional architecture function. From an initial group of seven architects in Australia, the number grew to approximately 150, spanning Asia and Australia. This was followed by his strategic role on the industry-leading global cloud initiative and strategy. The groundbreaking work initiated several new partnerships, solutions, offerings and large-scale deal wins.
Jim has served as CTO on a number of complex projects, including a large Asian insurance provider. This project spanned 10 Asian countries and included an IT estate with a variety of core insurance systems, 19 data centers and legacy hardware, from mainframe to Unisys. His solution included a large-scale data-center consolidation, the first large-scale multi-nation VDI environment deployed by the company, and the first company Storage as a Service (StaaS) deployment with a full back-to-back OPEX commercial model.
In between contributing to winning deals that received Sales Excellence awards, Jim built the initial Consulting organization in Asia, Middle East and Africa and exceeded its financial targets in the first year.
Colleagues have described Jim as one of the most approachable and dedicated managers in DXC, which makes him a valuable leader and mentor. He is recognized for his ability to move projects forward, as his record of wins and project turnarounds demonstrates. He is also known as a hands-on technologist who maintains a garage full of equipment to gain intimate experience with the latest technologies.
