New GDPR Survey Reveals That German Banks Are Doubling Down on Security to Comply
News Release -- February 27, 2018
Böblingen, 27 February 2018 — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, today reported the results of a banking survey in Germany about the challenges of the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The survey findings show that German bank managers concentrate their activities on safeguarding their customers’ data: Email security (78 percent), authentication management (67 percent) and secure mobile access (66 percent) are key technologies on their agenda to comply with the new GDPR regulations. At the same time, 61 percent identify technological adjustments as a top challenge — only a few months before the law will come into effect in May 2018.
The tasks of the EU’s GDPR do not only affect the IT department — they affect almost all sections of the company where data are stored, distributed or created. Because of that, the implementation of the new rules should be treated as a holistic change management project that requires top management attention.
Notify within 72 hours
“GDPR requires that all data be processed securely. DXC helps banks to quickly comply with encryption, data-loss prevention, access controls, policies, processes and procedures,” says Jürgen Seiter, sales director, Cyber Security, North and Central Europe at DXC Technology.
“Under GDPR, organizations must also notify individuals of any personal data disclosure promptly, and they must notify supervisory authorities within 72 hours. The expert knowledge of the DXC team helps banks to move rapidly toward compliance.”
How DXC accelerates banks’ GDPR compliance
“Compliance requires proactive data management and protection. That’s why DXC GDPR Services integrate our advisory services, proven analytics and security solutions for rapidly implementing and managing enterprise-wide GDPR,” says Seiter.
