CSC CareVeillance™ Real-Time Clinical Surveillance Software Receives Certification for Meaningful Use
News Release -- May 16, 2011
FALLS CHURCH, Va., May 16 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that its CareVeillance™ real-time clinical surveillance solution has been certified as an inpatient Electronic Health Record (EHR) module for quality reporting by the Drummond Group, in accordance with the applicable hospital certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“Certification of CareVeillance marks an important milestone because it validates the solution’s capability in enabling hospitals to meet all the requirements for quality reporting, giving our clients the confidence they need when making the crucial decisions about their organizations’ EHR investments,” said Mark Roman, president of CSC’s Healthcare Group. “Not only will CareVeillance help providers save lives by supplying real-time information on high-risk patients and adverse events, it is an integral part of CSC’s effort to transform healthcare by delivering better information for better decisions.”
Unlike existing business intelligence and quality reporting systems, CareVeillance examines enterprise-wide clinical data in real-time during the patient’s stay, and alerts clinicians when the patient is showing early signs of high risk conditions, such as sepsis or pneumonia. This technology allows caregivers the earliest possible opportunity to assess and treat at-risk patients, and to ensure that best-practice measures are delivered during critical time frames. The solution also acts as a predictive tool to identify patients at risk for re-admission.
Drummond Group’s EHR Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) 2011/2012 certification program, tests and certifies that EHRs meet the meaningful use criteria for eligible provider or hospital technology. CareVeillance is certified as an EHR module under 45 CFR Part 170.302 O-V and 170.306 I, to calculate and submit clinical quality measures as part of an effort to demonstrate meaningful use. The CareVeillance certification number is 03312011‐1009‐6.
The clinical quality measures to which CareVeillance has been certified include: NQF0371, NQF0372, NQF0373, NQF0374, NQF0375, NQF0376, NQF0435, NQF0436, NQF0437, NQF0438, NQF0439, NQF0440, NQF0441, NQF0495, NQF0497 and spreadsheet software.
ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the HHS nor does it guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
