Service Request
DXC developed and distributed a core banking application, which is its strategic product in the financial services industry and which provides an end-to-end solution for financial firms of any size. However, its complexibility requires its customers to purchase the whole system without any options to select and use parts of it. On the other hand, the application is not web-based which restricted users and other systems from exploring its true values.
To solve those issues, our client decided to modernize the application with state-of-the-art SOA architecture.
Challenge:
- Old system is inflexible for tailoring to fit different customers
- Bring the whole desktop-based application to the web
- Develop web services for Customer Information Systems (CIS), Integrated Deposits Systems (IDS), Card and Merchant Systems (CAMS), Financial Support Systems (FSS) using Cobol, WSDL interfaces and IFX 2.0 standard
- Develop web portal user interfaces for CIS, IDS, CAMS, FSS systems using Java, WebSphere Portal, Portlet Factory Designer and Web 2.0 technologies
- Develop IDS reports using IBM Cognos Business Intelligence
- Automated functional testing using SOAP UI for all developed services
- From a firm core banking application, DXC renovated and modularized it into sub-components (Customers, Deposits, Loans, Cards and Merchant) which can be sold to customers separately.
- The components were flexibly deployed on a WebSphere portal, allowing them to run totally on the web. This helped to massively reduce the effort for repeatedly installing the application on separate desktops and the maintenance cost of a distributed system.
- Lastly, with several interface implemented as web services, the application now can be integrated with other systems easier than ever.
