Updates to Microsoft Software Assurance coming soon
Effective February 2020, Software Assurance Benefits will change to ensure they stay relevant and useful.
Summary
Effective February 2020, Microsoft is updating Software Assurance (SA) through changes to Software Assurance Benefits (SAB).
Details
Microsoft is investing in new ways to help you deploy and use their products and services, including updates to SA. They are updating SABs starting in February 2020 to ensure they stay relevant and useful to you, the customer.
- Retiring the Software Assurance Deployment Planning Services benefit.
- Retiring the Software Assurance Training Voucher benefit. There will be a major effort into improving access to new skilling program and platforms.
- Adjusting eligibility criteria for Software Assurance 24x7 Problem Resolution support. Microsoft will provide as-needed base support for qualifying customers and credit toward Unified Support.
SA continues to help customers take full advantage of your Microsoft investments in IT, and the changes Microsoft is making will simplify benefit redemption and replace outdated implementation mechanisms while removing duplicated services available elsewhere. Benefits such as New Version Rights and License Mobility help customers reduce costs and boost productivity, while the Azure Hybrid Benefit and From SA pricing provide discounts to help customers deploy the latest Microsoft technologies.
By updating SA, Microsoft can continue to provide a simple set of helpful benefits coordinated across software and cloud and can better support customers as they adapt to a cloud-based world.
These changes will take place over two years, starting in February 2020, to give customers time to plan for changes and use their benefits. The last day to redeem Software Assurance Deployment Planning Services and Software Assurance Training Voucher benefits is January 1, 2022.
