News Article -- September 07, 2018
DXC Technology is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Collaboration in Industry Award in conjunction with TasTAFE, at the 2018 Tasmanian Training Awards held recently in Hobart, Tasmania.
The Tasmanian Training Awards are conducted annually by Skills Tasmania, Department of State Growth. The Department is committed to the development of a high quality, efficient system of vocational education and training and workforce development.
The Awards recognise the achievements of apprentices, trainees and vocational students who strive for the highest standards of knowledge and skills within their industry. They also recognise industry, employers, small businesses and training organisations dedicated to providing high quality training and improving the skills of the workforce in this State.
The Collaboration in Industry Award recognises an exemplary skills development collaboration between at least one employer/industry body and at least one organisation delivering nationally recognised training.
DXC Technology and TasTAFE were recognised for their collaboration and the contribution the pathways programme is achieving with TasTAFE across three training courses (Service Desk, Network, Remote Desktop). As part of their selected Certificate IV or Diploma courses, TasTAFE students spend 50% of their time (6 months) working at the DXC Centre of Excellence supporting real customers.
The partnership was established as a core element of the blueprint for the Centre of Excellence in Hobart. Since setting up the Centre three years ago, DXC has created over 150 new roles in Hobart with 112 of these roles being fulfilled by ex TAFE students who have come through the pathw, ays programme.
