CSC Introduces Next-Generation Electronic Medical Records Solution Localised for Australia and New Zealand
News Release -- July 01, 2016
Proven cloud-based Lorenzo solution delivers open platform for healthcare innovation
Lorenzo, which is well established in the UK across more than 20 National Health Service (NHS) trusts, is a modern, highly-configurable and secure EMR platform that enables easier and more efficient patient care. This innovative cloud- based solution solves the issues of siloed information and processes within healthcare facilities.
Lorenzo has now been localised for the ANZ market, enabling integration with the National Health Identifier service for the sharing of discharge summaries and connection to the My Health Record system.
Andrea Fiumicelli, vice president and general manager Healthcare and Life Sciences for CSC said, “We are thrilled to bring Lorenzo to the ANZ healthcare market. Lorenzo was designed for one of the world’s most complex health systems, the UK’s National Health Service. Today, it is used in more than 50 UK hospitals and supports over 13 million patients.
“The George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust in the UK is using Lorenzo in the Outpatient Diabetes Department to standardise and streamline the way clinical data is collected, accessed and used to improve the care of patients with diabetes,” Fiumicelli noted. “The result is a 50 percent reduction in administrative workload. This is just one example of how Lorenzo enables transformation to support the new and more contemporary models of care required today." Watch the video to learn more.
Daryll Goodall, general manager, Healthcare for CSC Australia and New Zealand said, “Lorenzo supports local clinical workflows and keeps doctors and nurses close to patients. The platform automates how patient observations are captured via mobile devices and enables integration with third-party apps to increase efficiency amongst clinicians. For example, it enables digital dictation of clinical notes and wrist band scanning for positive patient identification.
“As Australia’s population ages and the rates of chronic illness increase, patient journeys are becoming increasingly complex. With Lorenzo’s smart forms, hospitals can deliver complex care more effectively, plan ahead and manage resources more easily,” added Goodall.
Once users have been trained, hospitals can easily update the system to suit their workflows and practices, without needing additional external support.
Lorenzo takes an open approach to data and interoperability while also offering unique flexibility for a phased implementation. The benefits of this approach include: the option to leverage existing investments; focus on priority areas; reduced impact of change on healthcare professionals; and faster time-to-benefit.
The introduction of Lorenzo in ANZ continues CSC’s commitment to innovation in healthcare. A majority of public and private hospitals across Australia and New Zealand rely on CSC applications including i.Patient Manager, WebPAS, i.Pharmacy, ePharmacy, ORMIS, EDIS and MedChart, an end-to-end electronic Medication Management (eMM) solution.
