DXC Technology to Support 3rd Autism@Work Summit in Australia
News Release -- July 23, 2019
Sydney, Australia, 23 July 2019 — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) today announced it will host the 3rd Autism@Work Summit, an initiative that inspires organisations to recognise the benefits of a neurodiverse workforce and to establish neurodiverse staff hiring initiatives.
Developed by the DXC Dandelion Program in conjunction with the Autism CRC, the initiative deploys different themes each year. This year’s theme, Transition, will feature:
- A panel of employees with autism, sharing their experiences of transitioning into the workplace
- An employer panel, discussing employee-workplace transitions from their perspective
- Sessions on a range of topics including mental health support, options for neurodiverse employment programs outside IT, transitioning from school to employment and neurodiverse 'placemaking'
“The Autism@Work summit allows DXC Technology to share our knowledge with other employers who are considering the advantages of neurodiversity for their organisation. It also allows leading organisations we work with, such as ANZ, NAB, SAP and Untapped, to discuss what they have achieved to date and share lessons learned. The hope is that this will inspire other organisations to become involved in facilitating neurodiversity in the workplace,” said Seelan Nayagam, managing director, DXC Technology Australia & New Zealand.
The summit will deliver best practices for better engaging the skills and interests of employees on the autism spectrum. Employers will find out more about the opportunities, benefits and lessons derived from neurodiversity employment programs and will share learnings with others running similar initiatives.
“It’s pleasing to see the expanding interest in the Autism@Work Summit and the growing recognition of the value of neurodiversity in the workforce. The Summit provides an opportunity to share and learn from the experiences of colleagues in Australia and internationally. It is also pleasing to see a focus in this year’s Summit on establishing the foundations for successfully gaining and sustaining employment during the years of schooling and further education,” said Andrew Davis, Chief Executive Officer, Autism CRC.
DXC is among several prominent organisations in Australia and worldwide that are increasingly investing in a more neurodiverse workforce.
This year’s Autism@Work Summit will take place on Thursday, 25 July 2019 from 8:30am - 5:00pm at the Novotel Melbourne on Collins. Registration for the summit is encouraged and is free of charge.
