Albury Wodonga Health Selects DXC’s Cloud-based Care Platform to Unify Cross-border Health
News Release -- November 10, 2020
Creating a secure, consistent and comprehensive view of patient activity across the region
VICTORIA, Australia, 10 November 2020 — Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) has turned to DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) to replace its cross-border health services’ patient administration system (PAS) with the DXC Care Suite cloud-based platform. DXC’s solution, deployed on Microsoft Azure, will transform AWH’s digital offering by providing a consolidated view of patients across the health service.
AWH Chief Executive Michael Kalimnios said adopting a centralised PAS would will improve safety and quality outcomes and result in greater patient engagement.
Signing this contract is the beginning of a real transformation for AWH,
Mr Kalimnios said.
The implementation of an integrated PAS will allow our clinicians and staff to navigate a more streamlined admission and care pathway for patients, reducing the time spent on processes and giving them more time with patients.
DXC Care Suite is a cloud-based health platform that offers contemporary patient record and care pathway management as well as automated scheduling.
For example, the use of DXC Care Suite will increase and improve the flow of patients through the hospitals, freeing up capacity and creating administrative efficiencies. This is achieved by employing advanced enterprise scheduling to reduce errors and align clinically defined schedules thereby improving information throughput significantly. The patient administration functionality of DXC Care Suite will be deployed across AWH.
AWH provides care to a catchment in excess of 250,000 people across Victoria and New South Wales (NSW) through: two public hospitals (Albury Hospital and Wodonga Hospital); a Mental Health service across southern NSW and North East Victoria that includes an inpatient unit in Wangaratta, two residential services in Beechworth; two community health services and a dental clinic.
We are delighted to support Albury Wodonga Health on their transformation journey. Now, more than ever, we are seeing the reliance on technology to support the delivery of safe, efficient and affordable care, in new and innovative ways,
said Daryll Goodall, DXC’s healthcare director for Australia and New Zealand. A secure, scalable, as-a-service digital health platform, will set the foundation for greater levels of agility, interoperability and patient centricity. Our extensive experience moving mission-critical workloads to the cloud in both the United Kingdom and Australia well positions DXC to work with all stakeholders throughout AWH’s cross-border health service. This will include managing AWH’s migration from multiple hospital systems (including EDiS and i.PM) to DXC Care Suite.
As part of the AWH transformation, DXC will continue collaborating with PowerHealth, integrating its PowerBilling & Revenue Collection (PBRC) solution within the DXC Care Suite platform. PBRC, used extensively throughout Australia and in healthcare organisations internationally, is a comprehensive enterprise-wide solution that simplifies and automates the complexities of healthcare billing and claiming.
Patrick Power, founder and group CEO of PowerHealth Solutions said, The flexibility of PBRC and its integration in DXC Care Suite will simplify the complex challenges AWH faces managing Visiting Medical Officer payments and Patient Billing in both New South Wales and Victoria, in addition to helping to manage the comprehensive range of billing situations seen in every Australian health service.
