In the last decade we have seen a constant shift in the manufacturing world towards more intelligent products and products as a service. Along with this trend, there are various manufacturing focused platforms emerging. They aim to provide a central point to consume services, connect manufacturing capabilities and manage a collection of factories. However, we believe that the future of manufacturing will be decentralized, automated and use trusted supplier networks that allow flexible and platform-independent manufacturing.
The joint project between DXC and Contractus demonstrates how an automated process from order request over order fulfilment to the final quality check can be realized. Confidential data remains at the customer’s site and only extracted, non-confidential meta data is used to match the capabilities of other suppliers in the network to the customer’s request. Finally the customer selects the pre-analyzed offer he likes best. Trust and transparency is guaranteed at any time through implemented smart contracts.
