Integrated ProjectServer to follow-up large infrastructural works
Customer:
Flemish GovernmentChallenge:
- The department MOW was looking for a way to improve the management and follow-up of their maritime infrastructure projects.
- Project-related documents were managed in various tools.
- Engineers had different ways of working, and could not easily access all information.
Solution:
- Implementation of EPM (Enterprise Project Management), a tool that supports follow-up of projects and is used for scheduling (based on a SharePoint solution).
- DXC Technology continued the migration to SharePoint 2013 and applied further customization to ensure easier work for users.
- As the business flow is customized, the program guides the engineers and indicates when certain tasks need to be completed.
Results:
- Better follow-up on projects.
- Easy access to information, as every project-related document is available in one environment.
- Standard way of working.
Additional Customer Challenges
• There was a strong need for a standardized tool that could eliminate manual data input and centralize information.
Value for citizens/government
• Risks or problems in the planning are identified earlier. • Cost and time savings due to standardization and automation. • Less errors as the portal guides the users on their tasks.
What the customer thinks
"DXC has guided us in the difficult transition from file-shared document collaboration in many processes, adding the missing tools to Microsoft's already powerful Sharepoint platform. The excellent 'site collection engine' DXC developed will provide, together with Microsoft's integrated ProjectServer, all necessary functionalities to take the next step in innovative and professional projects management of large infrastructural wworks." — Youri Meersschaut, MOW.
