DXC Technology Wins Five-Year Contract Extension for Auto Industry’s Worldwide Material Data System IMDS
Pressemitteilung -- Oktober 04, 2018
Böblingen, 4th October 2018 – DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) has signed a five-year extension of the existing contract with the International Material Data System (IMDS) consortium of 40 leading car manufacturers to continue to provide and support the IMDS. IMDS, the automobile industry’s material data system for Material Compliance Reporting, was created to help the industry comply with the European ELV (End of Life Vehicle) Directive and other international and national standards, regulations and laws. In the meanwhile, it has become an integral part of the sector’s quality processes.
According to the contract extension, DXC as the IT partner for IMDS will implement additional functions for IMDS, provide cloud-based services and continue to improve the IMDS service. DXC launched the first version of the system in 2000 and operates it on behalf of the consortium of 40 leading automobile OEMs. The group represents more than 60 vehicle brands globally.
The IMDS data system collects, maintains, analyses and archives information on all materials used by the car industry globally. More than 150.000 suppliers use IMDS to declare and report the chemical composition of their parts along the automotive supply chain. The IMDS IT system highlights hazardous and controlled substances by comparing the entered data with regulatory-originated lists of prohibited substances, i.e. the Global Automotive Declarable Substance List (GADSL).
“We are very happy that the DXC team’s experience and commitment to IMDS distinguished our company from our competitors in the market,” said Dirk Schuermann, vice president and managing director Germany, North Central Europe region, DXC Technology. “The team effort was key to ensuring the successful operation of IMDS and the extension of the contract. Over the years, the team has demonstrated excellence and a high-level of expertise in material compliance data collection, superior collaboration with the automobile industry representatives, high motivation and tireless support to the clients, as well as the users of the IMDS application. DXC is a proud IT partner for the automotive industry worldwide.”
The use of IMDS as standard solution for the automobile industry is continuously growing.
