DXC Technology “Digital Agenda Survey” Shows That for Managers, New Ideas Are the Strongest Digital Transformation Benefit in Germany
Pressemitteilung -- Oktober 17, 2017
Böblingen, October 17, 2017 — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, reported the results of a survey of managers across industries in Germany about their “Digital Agenda 2020.” The results show that two-thirds of managers in Germany believe that speeding up innovation is one of the most important benefits digitalizing their business can deliver within the next two to three years. Also, 60 percent of survey respondents rate their company’s innovation maturity for digital projects as “mediocre or worse,” with room for improvement.
“The digital transformation opens up opportunities to create new ideas — both for products and services or new business models,” said Dr Martin Eldracher, head of consulting, DXC Technology, Germany. “But as our latest Digital Agenda study findings show, only a minority of managers rate their companies’ innovation power as excellent: Only 9 percent say they have reached strong innovation maturity in digital projects when cooperating with creative people. This is true within their corporate organization as well as externally.”
The struggle to create new visions
The majority of German managers also report that their heads of business struggle to create new visions for commercial models. Even if digital projects were successfully initiated, the risk is high that traditional company unit leaders will veto them. The reason for that often is the reluctance to change an acquired process that currently runs smoothly. This is an effect that about 60 percent of the companies experience.
“To prevent this negative influence of tradition, organizational changes often are highly recommended and new digital projects should be separately innovated and incubated,” Eldracher said. “In this scenario, companies should not lose sight of an important guideline: Think big, start small, test early and scale success quickly. This will ensure that the path of innovation does not lead to an impasse.”
As the world’s largest independent IT services provider — with many years of experience in digital transformation — DXC Technology delivers the needed professional support for its customers. Its mission is to guide enterprises on their digital journeys in their home country of Germany and beyond the borders of the regions worldwide.
