41 percent of Czech companies have a concrete digital agenda plan
News Release -- January 30, 2018
Prague, 30 January 2018 — A survey by DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, in partnership with GFK, has found that nearly half of Czech companies today have a concrete digital technology agenda, usually driven by the IT department. However, almost half of the Czech managers interviewed as part of “Digital Agenda 2020” indicated that their organisations have not yet set up a strategic plan to manage digital transformation in their own company.
Those companies with a planned agenda, or where the digital agenda has already been implemented, still have questions regarding IT security (82 percent), digital automation (68 percent) and data collection (63 percent).
Currently, 14 percent of the Czech companies have set up a digital agenda that has had positive effects on the business’ success in practice. Thirty-one percent already have a digital strategy in place, but measurable results on sales and profits are still pending. Only 13 percent want to move on without a digital strategy now and in the future.
Who is driving digitisation in the Czech Republic?
When asked the question, “Who is actually driving the digital technologies in Czech companies?” the answers show a differentiated picture: In 71 percent of the companies, the IT manager is the driving force. Only half of all managers view general management in the leading role (46 percent). The same number of respondents name expert groups, which include representatives from all disciplines, as the driving force (46 percent). One-third of respondents stated that specialists from the operating business are the driving force behind the digital change.
Where are the barriers to digital transformation?
The comparatively weak support from the executive suite is reflected in the Czech managers’ answers regarding the largest barriers to digitisation projects: Half of respondents are convinced that the digital agenda is not supported by the executive suite as a top priority. Furthermore, 42 percent are convinced that digitisation is slowed down in organisations because digital technologies are often siloed in one company department.
Ranking third as a barrier to digital transformation, respondents said that gaps in technical education and further training of the employees are significant barriers to digital development (20 percent).
“Regarding the local survey, Czech managers see the biggest opportunities in the next two to three years for using real-time data for decisions and greater responsiveness to customers’ requests,” says Bedřich Luft, general manager, DXC Technology, Czech Republic. “Companies that exploit the value of real-time data analysis for their business will gain a big customer advantage in the market.”
As one of the world’s largest IT services companies, with many years of experience in the area of digitisation, DXC Technology supports their clients in digital transformation in the Czech Republic and worldwide.
