Marcos Magallanes, director of Information Systems at Centro Médico El Carmen, says, “Our main objectives are to improve the quality of patient care. Everything we do and all of the investments we make are always working toward this goal, in addition to improving our internal processes, but above all, we want to improve patient care.”

He adds, “The main success with our tools would be having all of the data with regard to patient care drawn, practically, from the first instant.” Other benefits include having all at-home medications and hospital medications managed electronically, at the single-pill level. Magallanes says, “We know, at each moment, what medication a patient should be taking, how [he or she] should be taking it and what repercussions this may have on the patient. That is very important for us.”
Magallanes says, “DXC adds value in our company in many respects. The value DXC provides gives us the confidence we need to commit to certain things because many times we want to do a project that affects a certain area, and we ask DXC [personnel] and they advise us how to commit to better investments. That value is extremely important.”
With a robust, effective patient information system firmly in place, Centro Médico El Carmen is investing in mobile technologies. Magallanes says, “With these investments, we need to constantly have a dialogue with DXC because, we, let’s say, have an idea, but they give us the most important part: the technology. And they help us execute these projects and the ideas we have in our heads, which aren’t few, to be sure.”
Other successes have shown up on the business side. Magallanes says, “Because all of our internal processes are better managed, our billings, of course, have increased. Virtually all of our internal processes have been totally improved. The return on investment is constant, continuous and on time.”
“DXC contributes, above all, security and confidence in what we want to do,” Magallanes concludes.
