Corporate Responsibility
DXC’s Corporate Responsibility program aims to instill the spirit of community and unity within the organization, by actively participating in, and contributing towards causes of social relevance. Corporate Responsibility (CR) is a key priority for DXC and the people of this organization take great initiative in countless ways to strengthen their home communities. Our employees volunteer their time and resources to engage in various local and global community development programs.
Corporate Responsibility in DXC India:
DXC India has a dedicated Corporate Responsibility team with hundreds of volunteers from across the country. Every day, DXC employees volunteer their time and sincere efforts towards making a difference in people’s lives. DXC Cares is a global initiative of giving back and it highlights various employee and leadership-driven initiatives that positively impact our society.
The focus areas for the India Corporate Responsibility team are education, people and wellness, environment and disaster relief.
Education Projects:
Through various education projects for the underprivileged children, DXC creates enabling environments for their overall development, with specific focus on girl children. The children are provided with not just formal education but are also trained in life skills. The endeavor is to provide the children a holistic growth environment. For instance, in association with Akshayapatra Foundation, the CR team facilitates hot, freshly cooked, unlimited nutritious meals, six days of the week to more than 1000 government school students in the rural parts of Bengaluru, India.
In order to make technological education more accessible to them, DXC has set up computer centers, mathematics and science labs in 25 schools across India.
Skill Development of the youth and differently abled:
The objective of these programs is to provide employability skills to the youth who are less privileged, so that they can find jobs in organized industries such as IT/ITES, retail, BPO, accounts, hospitality, and logistics.
Our Corporate Responsibility team organizes vocational skills training for youth with disabilities from the underprivileged sector; and provides scholarships to students in the rural areas.
People & Wellness Programs:
The focus of these programs is to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people in the rural sector through education; blood donation, STEM cell donation and other health camps; awareness creation on hygiene, particularly women hygiene; and skilling of the youth. DXC India’s projects also address the local environmental issues like air and water pollution, sanitation issues, and open sewage issues.
Environment Protection and Disaster Relief
As a responsible corporate citizen, DXC India remains vigilant towards the environment’s protection and acts swiftly during times of natural disasters. Be it the fight against recent COVID-19 or Kerala floods or Gaja cyclone in Chennai; DXC India and its employees contributed in more ways than one.
To protect the environment, myriad initiatives such as beach and lake cleanup drives, plantation programs, and awareness campaigns across India are taken up on a periodic basis.
Other Key Initiatives
Besides the three core areas, DXC India Corporate Responsibility team runs several other projects. ‘Run for a Cause’ is our annual marathon event conducted in multiple cities to raise funds for the education of underprivileged children. We also observe ‘International Day for Persons with Disabilities’ by conducting a walkathon and chess tournament for the visually challenged, followed by panel discussions and other activities.
‘Bring Your Families to the Workplace’ is the mega campus Corporate Responsibility event that brings the employees and their families together to contribute for various social causes. Our 2019 edition saw 3500+ employees and their families coming together from across the country to bring about social change.
DXC India employees and volunteers from across India contribute their time and resources in making each of these projects a success. The DXC Corporate Responsibility India team, DXC volunteers and employees, our program-implementation and NGO partners work cohesively to create a society of equality and sustainability.
