DXC TechTalk – Taking tech to the races: Reinventing fan engagement – Replay
May 30, 2019 at 5:30 – 6:00 pm ET
Technology is changing sports in not only how teams and athletes perform but also how fans experience the sport. Like customers in any industry, sports fans expect personalization and immersive experiences. Technology delivers that.
At the DXC Technology 600 IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway on June 8, DXC will bring an immersive experience to guests through virtual reality and augmented reality demos and a racing app for fans. Fans will be able to compete in real time against IndyCar drivers, creating and driving their own virtual race car and making real-time adjustments that directly affect their race position. Virtual drivers, just like the professional drivers, will have control over their fuel map switch, which affects speed, tire wear and the number of pit stops needed. More than being a spectator, fans can take an active role in the race and see the position they are in, in real race time, relative to the professional drivers and other virtual drivers.
We discussed digital technologies and the new customer experience with:
- Dan Hushon, SVP and CTO, DXC Technology
- Gary Stockman, SVP and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, DXC Technology
- Carlos Gutierrez, Chief Race Strategist and Engineer, Team Penske
DXC is the title sponsor of the race, the ninth race on the 2019 IndyCar Series schedule, and has a partnership with Team Penske and the No. 22 car driven by Simon Pagenaud, who won this year's Indianapolis 500.
