Sankar Rao Vema
Sankar Rao Vema is an explorer and researcher in artificial intelligence and deep neural networks. He is passionate about making systems more intelligent to make our lives simpler.
"AI is going to redefine the reality of the enterprise landscape. That landscape is dominated by smart apps that go beyond pattern analysis and natural responses to understanding our needs and preferences and working on them before we even realize the need.”
Sankar Rao Vema is a technology enthusiast, futurist, researcher and author who is an expert in artificial intelligence (AI) and other disruptive technologies. Sankar has a deep understanding of computer algorithms, data science and architecture, and can program in 21 different languages. He leverages his breadth and depth of technology skills in advanced technology development (ATD), a next-gen solutioning unit under the Office of the CTO, where he maps disruptive technologies to advanced AI concepts.
Sankar’s passion in applied artificial intelligence and next-gen technologies helps solve complex business challenges with more innovative solutions. With his out-of-the-box thinking, he has implemented many first-of-their-kind solutions in natural language processing, computer vision, predictive modeling and software robotic agents, helping DXC Technology showcase its next-gen capabilities.
Sankar dedicates most of his time to grooming and nurturing fresh talent in next-gen technologies and application design paradigms. He believes in an innovative, open collaboration model, which helped DXC implement its virtual talent pool resourcing platform, called Talent Cloud.
Active in the open source community, Sankar contributes to the development of open sources tools and frameworks in evolving application design paradigms. Most of his open source projects can be found on GitHub. Sankar also promotes open source culture in academia through the COIN program, an academic collaboration program in India that identifies aspiring students in various fields and mentors them through different DXC research projects.
Sankar participates in various technology events as speaker and author. He has authored various white papers and research articles in AI and deep neural networks and constantly exchanges his ideas through his personal blog.
Sankar has received various professional awards and recognitions including the Horizon Award in 2014, the AIC Club Award in 2008 and 2006 while employed at Satyam Computer Services, the Innovation Award in 2004 from India’s Prime Minister Office, and a Special Appreciation Award from India’s Ministry of Shipping in 2002.
