DXC Technology Launches Global Digital Transformation Centre in South Australia

Announces Certificate IV Programme and Digital Traineeship with TAFE SA,
Extends DXC Internship Programme with University of South Australia

ADELAIDE, Australia, 19 September 2019 — DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC), the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, today announced the opening of a new global Digital Transformation Centre (DTC) to develop high-impact digital solutions that will drive business innovation across Australia and New Zealand from South Australia.

The new DXC DTC, based on OG Road in Felixstow, presents a collaborative environment that will draw on the company’s global experience in digital transformation and foster the incubation of ideas, learning and development.

Officiating the launch of the DXC DTC, Minister for Innovation and Skills, Hon. David Pisoni said: “We are confident the new DXC Digital Transformation Centre will spark new conversations which lead to innovative solutions that solve real business challenges faced by Australian enterprises. DXC’s DTC supports the Government’s digital transformation agenda of advancing digital innovation to deliver better economic and social impact outcomes.”

DXC today also announced the launch of a Certificate IV Programme and Digital Traineeship with TAFE SA and Department of Innovation, as well as a five-year extension of the DXC Internship Programme with the University of South Australia.

New Digital Transformation Centre

Over 150 DXC digital technologists and enterprise solution experts in South Australia will gain employment in the new DTC, and DXC expects this to grow to 300 within the next 24 months. Employees at the Adelaide DTC will be able to draw immediately upon a global team of digital specialists and access the company’s latest digital blueprints from all over the world.

“For many years, DXC has been working alongside the South Australian Government and local businesses to create new and innovative technology solutions, which will ultimately benefit South Australia and the broader Australian community. Key to this is educating South Australians on the benefits of a digital future; starting from the grassroots level through schools and creating pathways through tertiary institutions and universities. The official opening of our DTC in Adelaide today builds on DXC’s commitment to enhancing ICT capabilities within South Australia and supporting the state’s vision to be a world innovation leader,” said Seelan Nayagam, managing director, DXC Technology Australia and New Zealand.

The DTC in Adelaide is based on similar models launched by DXC Technology in the United States, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, India and the Philippines, and the centre adds to DXC’s digital network in Australia, which includes collaboration with Swinburne University in Melbourne and the Australian National University in Canberra.

Launch of DXC Certificate IV Programme and Digital Traineeship with TAFE SA

DXC and TAFE SA have established a Certificate IV in IT work placement programme whereby students undertake work experience for six months while studying at TAFE SA. So far 11 students have been through the programme, and another 11 are starting this month.

In a first for South Australia, DXC and TAFE SA have also co-designed a new two-year Digital Traineeship Programme whereby students will study at TAFE SA in one of two diploma courses — Software Development or Networking and Security — while working at DXC. Both programmes enable students to learn advanced IT skills in the classroom while applying those skills in a real-world environment at DXC.

TAFE SA Chief Executive Mr David Coltman said: “TAFE SA is thrilled to be partnering with DXC Technology. To be their chosen provider of vocational education and training (VET) in South Australia is a great honour for TAFE SA. DXC has an impressive history of supporting innovative and socially responsible education programmes, as does TAFE SA. Our shared commitment to building a future workforce and provide outstanding learning opportunities has underpinned this collaboration. It demonstrates a fresh start for TAFE SA, one that is built on collaboration and partnerships with industry. For DXC Technology, it demonstrates the strength of their commitment to South Australian learners and workers. We look forward to celebrating our graduates’ success at the end of their studies and to strengthening our relationship with DXC Technology.”

Extension of Internship Programme with the University of South Australia

DXC has also worked with the University of South Australia to reshape and launch a new internship programme where students will have the opportunity to work with DXC for three months in their second year of work to gain a broad understanding of the DXC business, and six months in their third year aligning with an area of specialisation. The aim is to prepare university students who are undertaking these degrees so they are ready at graduation to provide skills within DXC and the broader economy.

University of South Australia head of IT and Mathematical Science, Professor Brenton Dansie has welcomed the renewal of what he says has been a highly successful internship partnership with DXC. “With more than 60 students taking up internships with DXC in the past five years, the programme has become an outstanding example of university and industry collaboration. More than 90 per cent of those students have gone on to become valuable employees at the company which is a great outcome for the development of the future DXC workforce,” said Professor Dansie.

“DXC sees itself playing a key role in guiding and transitioning organisations and individuals from legacy technology infrastructure and advancing them on their digital journeys. The launch of our DTC as well as the initiatives announced today with TAFE SA and the University of South Australia will help South Australians build meaningful careers in technology, assist in retaining home grown talent and nurture skills required for a digital future,” added Nayagam.
