CSC OPENS BUSINESS-TO-BUSINESS SOCIAL NETWORKING COMMUNITY TO LIFE INSURANCE AND ANNUITY CLIENTS
News Release -- August 24, 2009
WikonnecT Grows to 8,000 Users from Nearly 700 Insurance Companies Interacting Across More Than 100 Communities
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Aug. 24 -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) today announced it is broadening participation in WikonnecT, a business-to-business social networking site using the latest Web 2.0 technology, to include its life insurance and annuity clients. The announcement was made at CSC's annual Life & Annuity Users' Forum in Marco Island, Fla., where more than 500 insurance professionals gathered to discuss industry topics and share common issues and experiences.
A recent winner of the 2009 CSC Chairman's Award for Excellence, the CSC-hosted WikonnecT is a customized Internet site where CSC employees, clients and industry experts can interact anytime, anywhere to collaborate and obtain actionable solutions to industry or software needs. After eight months in production following its introduction to CSC's property and casualty client base last fall, WikonnecT has grown to 8,000 users from nearly 700 insurance companies interacting across more than 100 communities.
WikonnecT runs on a Sun Microsystems infrastructure and includes blogs, polls and a feature to keep clients informed on new software products and developments. Users can rate and provide feedback on CSC solutions, prioritize improvements and interact directly with CSC developers to reduce the cycle time for enhancements or responses to requests. WikonnecT is also designed to assist insurance carriers seeking peer-to-peer advice on how to best implement and support their CSC systems, and it can serve as a source of information for carriers undergoing a request-for-proposal process.
"CSC's active client communities have provided us an avenue to meet with other users to discuss industry issues, address mutual challenges and provide guidance to CSC in its product design," said Al Bowen, senior vice president and chief information officer at Ohio National Financial Services, Cincinnati, Ohio. "Now, with the extension of this community to the Web, we can take advantage of more frequent interactions with feedback from multiple sources."
"By opening the WikonnecT social networking community to our life and annuity clients, we are continuing to foster strong peer-to-peer client networks and are hearing positive feedback," said Michael W. Risley, president of the Life and Annuity Division within CSC's Financial Services Group. "From our C-suite strategic meetings, our users' forums and now WikonnecT, we offer our clients numerous opportunities to connect and collaborate in multiple communities."
Members of CSC's insurance client community may access WikonnecT through a secure log-in at https://wikonnect.csc.com. Life insurance or annuity firm representatives who wish to participate may contact their CSC account managers.
