CSC Wins American Legion Employer Award
News Release -- August 16, 2010
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Aug. 16 – CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has received the Connecticut American Legion Employer of Veterans Award for 2010. CSC was recognized for outstanding achievement with the “Laptops for Troops” program and for the company’s continued commitment to employee veterans.
CSC created the “Laptops for Troops” program last year after an American outpost of troops in Afghanistan lost all of their personal belongings in an attack. Through this program, CSC donated 65 refurbished laptop computers to the troops in combat so they were able to maintain communications with their families back home. CSC employees in Connecticut joined forces with the American Legion and other local companies to provide support for the troops serving overseas.
“CSC is proud to support the brave men and women who fight for our country each day,” said Melinda Evans, chief global diversity officer for CSC. “Whether through our robust military recruitment practices or programs such as this, we are committed to supporting our military and their families.”
The “Laptops for Troops” program was started by Stephen Pintarich, an employee of CSC, past Commander of American Legion Post 72 and an Army veteran. Contributions continue to be made and more than 230 refurbished laptops with Web cameras have now been sent to deployed troops.
CSC offers an active military recruitment program and offers assistance in employment transfers, working virtually and career portability. For more information, visit https://www.dxc.technology/military_programs.
