CSC Recognized for U.S. Army Logistics Modernization Work
News Release -- June 29, 2011
FALLS CHURCH, Va., June 29 – Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine named CSC (NYSE: CSC) to its 10th annual Supply & Demand Chain Executive 100 list for the company’s work on the U.S. Army’s Logistics Modernization Program (LMP). This year’s list highlights the top 100 supply chain projects that have had a significant impact on customers. Companies were evaluated on ambitiousness and scope of the project; creative application of technologies, solutions and services; and the extent of business results and/or impact.
“We’re honored to be recognized for our successful and innovative transformation work on the LMP project that is anticipated to deliver bottom-line value and cost savings,” said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector. “LMP allows soldiers to get needed supplies faster, while also equipping Defense leaders and Army commanders with real-time visibility into inventory, requisition and distribution checkpoints.”
LMP is a complex enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation that was established to significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the U.S. Army in supporting America’s warfighters. In October 2010, the final phase of LMP was successfully deployed to more than 12,500 additional users at 29 sites around the world. Now available to a user base of more than 25,000 people, the LMP is one of the world’s largest, fully integrated supply chain, maintenance, repair and overhaul planning and execution solutions. It manages approximately $22 billion in inventory, including spare and repair parts, to sustain communications and electronics equipment and systems, aviation equipment, missiles, tanks, armaments and munitions. In addition, LMP integrates with more than 70 Department of Defense systems to deliver needed supplies. Learn more about CSC’s logistics solutions at csc.com/logistics.
