Beyond Disruption Survey Finds Dutch Companies Are Leaders in Digital Transformation in Northern Europe
Nieuwsbericht -- januari 13, 2020
Rijswijk, 13 January, 2020 – Dutch companies are in the vanguard in Northern Europe when it comes to capitalizing on digital transformation, according to a survey conducted recently by DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) with IDC of leading IT decision makers in the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
The survey “Beyond Disruption — Northern Europe enterprises finding their way through massive industry change,” was conducted amongst 518 IT decision makers and influencers across companies in Northern Europe, who shared their views on the challenges and opportunities presented by digital technology disrupting their industry. According to the survey, the majority of Dutch companies — 86% — have created and are in the process of implementing a digital strategy. In comparison to the Netherlands, 80% overall of respondents in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland reported they are on track with following a digital agenda.
“The vast majority of companies in the Netherlands are confident that they have a very good ability to determine ‘where-to-play’ and ‘how-to-win’ in the digital world,” says Coks Stoffer, managing director, Netherlands, DXC Technology. “They see digital transformation as an opportunity to develop further in the next two to three years and to tap into new revenue sources, improving customer experience and business efficiency.”
The respondents in the survey point out that they are lacking: employees with the right digital skills, the training to upskill their employees, and the knowledge to assess where to make use of digital technologies. For many, a key obstacle to driving further growth is a lack of both digital and change management skills.
“Digital transformation is about creating a digital foundation built on the enterprise technology stack, scaling modernization and leveraging AI to make the business customer-centric,” says Stoffer. “Dutch companies who want to achieve this, but don’t have the right competencies need to collaborate with IT partners, who can take proof of concepts company-wide, deliver at scale, and help them get valuable insights to increase revenues and decrease costs.”
Having the right digital business partner and a strong digital foundation can also make it easier to get new talent on board and reskill existing employees. According to the “Beyond Disruption” survey, 22% of companies in the Netherlands say they currently lack the right skills, while 40% are struggling to find new people with the right competencies. In addition, 70% of Dutch companies are either already actively looking for new talent and competencies or will start looking soon.
“Getting the right talent is not easy,” says Stoffer. “People with digital capabilities want to work in companies that are headed in a new direction. Using the right technological platform and the right IT partner can take companies there, make them more competitive and help them to build a strong digital business, accelerate innovation and ensure future-proof growth.”
