Why more governments should consider low-code development

Compared to traditional computer programming, low-code development platforms (LCDPs) have made it much simpler and more cost-effective to create a business application. And considering the trends, this is a capability that is sorely needed.
With growing citizen expectations for responsive government services and a development cost approaching the 1-year/$1 million mark for an average application, states and localities need to take advantage of the benefits that LCDPs can offer. But relatively few of them do. A recent Center for Digital Government (CDG) survey of more than 125 public sector decision makers found that only 21 percent are using low-code development.
Low code development provides the capabilities for agencies to keep moving forward with digital government solutions. A variety of commercial platforms reduce both the need for in-house expertise and the labor involved in developing new applications.
