DXC Leads the Way on Military Spouse Employment
In recent months, senior members of DXC Americas Staffing and Recruitment team have been invited to speak on panels regarding the successful employment of military spouses. The Military Spouse Symposium and Career Fair, was held in San Diego CA in Jan 2012, and was presented by the Military Officers Association of America & Blue Star Families. VADM Norb Ryan USN-Ret, President of the Military Officers Association of America, shared that this was the first one of its kind, held in San Diego.
DXC's senior recruiter, Cindy Alanis, who has been an HR professional with DXC for more than 25 years, was invited to speak on the Employer Panel "Five Things Employers Want you to Know." Other panel members included Karen Bricklemyer, CEO and president of United Way Midlands; Pamela Green, Society for Human Resource Management vice president; and Sara Sperling, Diversity & Inclusion Programs.
Cindy shared how DXC hires at many military locations around the world. She captivated the audience when sharing her personal accounts of transferring one of DXC's long-time San Diego employees to Japan when her husband had to move because he was reassigned. Cindy further explained how DXC is a military-friendly company because managers and staff in DXC's North American Public Sector are former military personnel themselves, who are familiar with the military culture.
On November 4, 2011, Jim Gattuso, director of Americas Staffing and Recruitment, was invited to speak during the Military Spouse Summit, hosted by National Military Spouse Network (NMSN) in Fairfax, Va. DXC was a targeted invite, as a military-spouse friendly employer and a partner of NMSN, the pre-eminent networking, mentoring and professional development organization committed to the education, empowerment and advancement of military spouses.
Jim shared with attendees DXC’s perspective on what it means to be a "military spouse- friendly employer" and the programs DXC has in place to support military spouses. Job seekers heard about the many possibilities of attaining a rewarding growth-promoting career with DXC or other companies that share the same fundamentals. Jim provided valuable guidance for military spouse professionals to leverage today's technology and employment trends when seeking, not just job opportunities, but their true career aspirations.
