Analyst NelsonHall names DXC a leader in GDPR Services for protecting data privacy
With the deadline approaching for complying with new European Union customer privacy rules, analyst firm NelsonHall named DXC Technology as a leader in GDPR Services, including Consulting, Implementation and Ongoing Management services.
The NelsonHall GDPR Services report analyzed the performance of vendors offering IT services in support of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which goes into effect in EU law on May 25, 2018. NelsonHall reviewed nine vendors’ services and named DXC an overall leader because of the company’s “ability to meet future customer requirements as well as delivering immediate benefits to GDPR services customers.”
We are helping our customers to enable trust and confidence in their data which, beyond GDPR readiness, act as a catalyst for ongoing digital transformation across their businesses.
“DXC’s GDPR deep dive in its Cyber Reference Architecture (CRA) and the construction of work packages enable customers to become compliant quicker,” said Mike Smart, senior analyst and operations officer, NelsonHall, and author of the report.
GDPR affects thousands of firms doing business in the European Union, requiring new controls on customer data and privacy to give citizens control over their personal data. It applies to businesses and public entities that offer goods or services in the EU, monitor online behavior, and hold or process personal data of EU citizens.
To assess GDPR readiness, DXC deploys a cross-disciplinary team of advisors, data protection and analytics professionals and security specialists. DXC’s Cyber Reference Architecture assesses customers' compliance posture across people, process and technology, as well as their ability to detect, respond and recover from data breaches.
These same capabilities are crucial for organizations that need to protect customer data in today's digital economy, according to Martin Risau, senior vice president and general manager of Analytics at DXC. “By combining DXC’s advisory, analytics and security services, we are helping our customers to enable trust and confidence in their data which, beyond GDPR readiness, act as a catalyst for ongoing digital transformation across their businesses.”
NelsonHall cited DXC’s approach of building an inventory of GDPR-relevant data using tool-based personal data discovery, which addresses both structured and unstructured data. Further, DXC analyzes the results to remove false positives and creates an asset and evidence registry to help the customer's data protection officer assess data and processes for GDPR compliance. DXC’s services include highly structured blueprints that address specific data protection and cyber security challenges.
The NelsonHall report noted other key DXC strengths:
- Recognized as having some of the first consultants to be accredited as data protection officers by the European Commission.
- Ability for customers to upgrade and outsource capabilities to DXC’s large security/disaster recovery services team, enabling proper compliance, incident response and backups.
- Ability to identify sector-specific threats with DXC’s large, cross-industry security research team.
“Our early investments in accrediting consultants and developing technology and business services for GDPR are helping our customers quickly remediate compliance issues,” said Carlos Lopez-Abadia, vice president and general manager of Consulting, DXC Technology.
Chris Moyer, vice president and general manager of Security at DXC, added, "Solving for GDPR is a complex undertaking spanning multiple areas of an organization. It requires changes to employee behaviors and actions, as well as procedures for marketing, data management and transparency. Thanks to our technology-agnostic methodology, world-class talent and proven track record for innovation, DXC is well poised to deliver services to customers on their journey to GDPR readiness."
