Analyst NelsonHall names DXC a leader in managed security services for second straight year
For the second straight year, analyst firm NelsonHall named DXC Technology a global leader in Managed Security Services (MSS), citing DXC’s security research and architecture, large-scale services, and its ability to give clients impartial advice on vendor solutions.
The rankings were part of the 2018 NelsonHall Vendor Evaluation & Assessment Tool (NEAT) for Managed Security Services report. NelsonHall uses NEAT to help organizations evaluate vendors across a wide range of criteria before identifying the best-performing leaders, high achievers, innovators and major players.
Large-scale services
As NelsonHall noted in last year’s report, DXC Technology, formed in 2017 through the merger of HPE Enterprise Services and CSC, is one of the largest MSS providers in the world.
“DXC has a large scale in cybersecurity, demonstrated by its global network of security operations centers and 4,000 cybersecurity and compliance experts who can support the majority of large-scale security contracts,” said Mike Smart, NelsonHall’s lead analyst for the NEAT report. “DXC is one of the few firms with the expertise and global reach required to manage large-scale security contracts. DXC demonstrates their leadership through the success of the clients, their thought leadership and overall security strategy."
Further, NelsonHall noted that DXC can provide clients with “quick implementations and estimations of service” because it has one of the industry’s largest security research capabilities. DXC has developed detailed blueprints and work packages to help clients “respond to threats quicker.” DXC uses workflows developed with its Cyber Reference Architecture, a library of best-practice designs developed from completing thousands of security projects.
Technology independence
As one of the largest partners of Micro Focus, which acquired HPE cybersecurity tools, DXC is uniquely positioned to “continue to see the roadmaps of those technologies and act in a more technology-agnostic manner,” according to the report.
“Today, with so many tools on the market, our clients are seeking a technology-independent point of view,” said Chris Moyer, vice president and general manager of DXC’s Security organization. “This enables us to deliver best-of-breed security solutions that meet each client’s unique needs and preferences.”
Comprehensive services
NelsonHall also cited other key DXC MSS services including:
- Intelligent security operations, which monitor clients’ environments and reduces the complexity of securing the IT environment
- Advanced threat protection and incident response, which combines threat detection, intelligence, methodologies and incident response expertise to rapidly detect and respond to advanced threats, as well as DXC's threat intelligence platform, which is increasingly modular, collecting security information from a number of different sources
- Infrastructure and endpoint security services, which help clients secure endpoints against malware and intrusions for 1.8 million connected devices
- Vulnerability assessments, which scan and secure applications and infrastructure and delivered in ad-hoc or scheduled as part of a consulting or managed services relationship
- Identity and access management services, which manage authentication credentials, users, identity risk and compliance are delivered through a hybrid of cloud and on-premises methods
Looking ahead, NelsonHall noted that DXC is adding automation and more consistent workflow and automation capabilities to its “platform DXC” initiative: “In its security platform, DXC is looking to build more modularity; increasing the ability to use more security tools will allow the platform to add more context to security events.”
