Identity Governance: Reduced risk and accelerated innovation
Highly regulated industries including healthcare must protect privacy, while managing access to patient information. Watch this video and learn why Identity Governance is critical to protecting data and ensuring compliance. Learn more about innovative identity and access controls.
It gives you visibility. You can see who’s got what access and where there’s any noncompliance.
Protecting privacy across the enterprise
Highly regulated industries including healthcare must place a priority on protect privacy.
Case in point: A regional healthcare provider must protect privacy, while managing access to patient data across thousands of employees and partners across hospitals, clinics, labs and doctor’s offices. All patient information is now available online through a self-service portal on the cloud, from any device.
In this scenario, the process of adding and removing access is still managed manually-assigning users to roles with specific access rights. Employees who change roles aren’t automatically deprovisioned, and thus retain access to many systems. That’s why Identity Governance is critical to protecting sensitive data and ensuring compliance.
“It gives you visibility,” said Martin Reilly with DXC Technology’s Global Strategy Group for Identity and Access Management. “You can see who’s got what access and where there’s any noncompliance. Secondly, it gives you the tools to actually manage towards remediation and do so in an often-automated way. And finally, it gives you the tools to automate and provide self-service for the regular joiners, movers, leavers processes.”
Improved compliance and reduced risk
The solution? Identity Governance as a service, which centralizes provisioning rules and access policies, along with multifactor authentication and Privileged Account Management services to better protect critical system accounts.
As a result, the healthcare provider can demonstrate compliance with auditing and regulatory requirements, reduce risk of data breaches and loss of patient information, and streamline access to applications and data.
To underpin this program, DXC’s Cyber Reference Architecture provides a framework of strategies, tactics and capabilities with a consistent approach and a long-term vision for digital transformation. This architecture provides a set of blueprints for fast, best practice implementation.
“We’re able to take that to rapidly accelerate the delivery of a project for identity governance and administration by using those existing blueprints as the templates for our delivery,” Reilly said.
