“The cloud is different from securing traditional infrastructure because it presents a much larger target for threat actors like hackers,” said Martin Reilly with DXC Technology’s Global Strategy Group for Identity and Access Management. “We need to apply privileged account management technology to protect your cloud credentials for access to system accounts that manage your cloud environment.”

In this scenario, the stakes are high. Noncompliance could affect future contracts, hamper growth and endanger lives. To address these security concerns, Privileged Account Management should be a key part of the organization’s integrated identity infrastructure.

To begin, high-risk privileged accounts must be prioritized for onboarding. “First, get visibility,” Reilly advised. “You need to know how many privileged accounts are out there. You need to know which of the high-risk accounts to target your resources on those first.”

The solution must focus on reducing business risk and defining life-cycle management and integrate provisioning through IT Service Management across the enterprise. The result? Now all accounts are provisioned, with accountability and managed credentials, to reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
